I grew up as the kinda girl that was really nice. I thinned out in my teen years and then discovered I LOVED exercise in my 20s. I worked out religiously until I became pregnant and had a miscarriage. I was then labeled as high risk and was told by my doctor no exercise until after the baby was born. Well, that broke the routine. Nine months later with a new baby girl in tow…exercise was the last thing I thought about. However, my next meal was always on my mind (I LOVE to eat). I tried to eat somewhat healthy, but never lost all the pounds I had gained. Let’s just say I had adopted ALL the bad eating habits and exercise was not even in my realm of thinking. It was a snowball for sure… I finally started getting tired of being tired, feeling yucky all the time, and just feeling really crummy about my appearance. I was in horror that I weighed more than I did when I was pregnant and realized I had no excuse for the way I had let myself go. The truth shall set you free. It did when I saw a picture of myself and about cried!! I had to do something. At this point I started dieting. Exercising still wasn’t in the mix because I felt I just didn’t have time, even though I had plenty of time to sit and watch TV. I lost weight and started feeling really good about myself again until my husband signed me up for a 5K. It was a fundraiser for our church so I just figured I’d walk it. Now keep in mind I have something of a competitive edge. I did the 5K and was FLOORED at how out of shape I was when I tried to run even a little (that competitive edge kicked in). I realized real quick I was now skinny fat. So miraculously I started to find time for the gym again. I started eating PROPER nutrition instead of just dieting to lose weight because I wanted to gain muscle. Then a better snowball started…I had more energy, I felt GREAT, I started seeing muscle definition, and I started to LOVE to sweat!! Fast forward several years and now I can run 10 miles EASY and hang with the toughest workouts. My proudest accomplishment… was earning the Reebok Spartan race Trifecta. I placed high in my age group too, I might add. I am leaner and healthier than I have been in my whole life and I’m FORTY!!! (So age is no excuse.) So with all that being said…I am ECSTATIC to be able to share my ups and downs with others and encourage them daily on the road of healthy living. I believe it is never too late for someone to change their lifestyle. I look forward to training and motivating each member of our Boot Camp! The road is not easy and often bumpy BUT the journey is SO worth the effort!!
